The Incal

An esoteric space opera built on the architecture of tarot and Kabbalah, in which a failed detective becomes the vehicle for a cosmic ascension triggered by a mysterious crystal. Jodorowsky applies to popular science fiction the same symbolic apparatus that would later directly inspire the Metabarons and Giger's Alien aesthetic — a case of visual hyperstition that reprogrammed cinematic sci-fi imagery for decades to come.
